This Privacy Policy explains how Forge QR ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website at forgeqrcode.com. By using the site you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information we collect

Static QR codes: No data is stored. Generation happens entirely server-side and the resulting image is returned directly to your browser. We do not log the content you encode.

Dynamic and App Store QR codes: When you create a dynamic or App Store QR code we store the destination URL(s) and a randomly generated edit token. When someone scans a dynamic QR code we log the following anonymous scan metadata:

• Approximate country and city (derived from IP address via a third-party geolocation API — the IP address itself is not stored)
• Device type (mobile, tablet, desktop)
• Operating system and browser (derived from the User-Agent header)
• Timestamp of the scan

Contact form: If you submit a message via the Contact page we store your name, email address, and message so we can reply to you.

Feedback & testimonials: If you submit feedback or a story, we store your message and any optional information you provide (name, star rating, use case).

Site visit data: We count page visits in aggregate to track overall traffic. No personally identifiable information is associated with these counts.

2. Cookies and third-party services

We use the following third-party services that may set cookies or collect data independently:

• Google Analytics 4 — used to understand how visitors use the site (pages visited, session duration, geographic region). Data is collected anonymously. You can opt out via Google's opt-out tool.
• Google AdSense — used to display relevant advertisements. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings.
• Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from Google's servers, which may log your IP address.
• ip-api.com — used to resolve approximate geolocation from IP addresses for QR scan analytics. Only used at scan time; the IP address is not stored by us.

3. How we use your information

• To provide and operate the QR code generation service
• To show QR scan analytics to the QR code owner (via their private Manage link)
• To respond to contact form submissions
• To display approved user testimonials on the homepage
• To improve the site based on aggregate usage data

4. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except as required by the third-party services listed above (Google Analytics, Google AdSense) or as required by law.

5. Data retention

Dynamic and App Store QR code data (destination URL, scan logs) is retained indefinitely. Contact form messages are retained until addressed. You may request deletion of any data by contacting us via the Contact page and we will remove it promptly.

6. Children's privacy

Forge QR is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
